Primary Server Requirements

I am looking to move my primary server to a virtualized server under Xen. My main question is what version of SLES should I install as my server OS? The technical specs page for ZENworks 11 (https://www.novell.com/products/zenw...technicalinfo/) lists only SP1 for SLES11 under server requirements. I am hoping that this does not mean I cannot run it under SLES11 SP4.

On a side note, any insight if I really wanted to push the envelope and run it on SLES 12 SP1?

TIA,

Unable to upload drivers to driver store - IE 11 win 7

Helo,

I have a problem to upload drivers to driver store by iManager - I use IE 11 and every time I try to upload a new driver I get Information that I have to use IE 5.5 or newer (when I push the button "add driver")....but I have the newest version of IE. When I use windows xp and IE 8 every things looks all right - after push the button "add driver" I could choose suitable file. Of course I could only add drivers for win xp, if I choose win 7 I get information that I could only do that from OS win 7.

I am little confused with this......do You have some idea how to solve this problem and add drivers by iManager on win 7?

I have the newest version of package (I think :) ) (OES 2 SUSE 10 SP4)

Sizing recommendations to support Outlook

$

I have a GroupWise system that currently supports 1500 users, and now with the support of the Outlook client available with GMS 2014R2 I need to plan on supporting our users with Outlook. At this point it is hard to say how many of the users will want to switch from the GW client to Outlook but I am thinking it will be well over 50% of those users. In the documentation it states that it will support up to 750 users and 1000 devices - that being said, if I needed to support all of my users with Outlook, how should I design the environment? Multiple GMS servers?

Thanks for any feedback - just trying to keep GW in our environment without having to migrate to Exchange as long as we can.

Last Full Refresh on Primary Server stucks

Hi,

We have a small ZCM-environment with one 11.4.0-server (linux appliance) and some workstations.

Like others, I have the problem to deploy the "Post 11SP4 Update Prereq" to the server itself (System Update Deploying stucks at status "pending"), but none of the suggestions helps.
The ZCC-summary of my primary server shows, that the "Last Full Refresh" is from September 2015, the "Last Contact" from last night, the agent is green and running.

Where do I have to look, why full refresh is not working?

Thanks, Philipp

Hi all
GW2014R2. Users want's to start from multiuser calendar when opening it.
Start GW client. Go to calendar. Switch to multiuser. Close GW client and open it again. Go to calendar - week view, no multiuser (looks that GW trying to open multiuser calendar, but "stays" on week view).
In previous version calendar setting were remembered between session of GW client.
Have many notes from assistants which display few persons and resources calendars as standard view for everyday work.
I have reset client setting - it doesn't helped.
Anyone observed that ?

Is 2014 R2 - Evaluation the updated product to download?

In my downloads for Groupwise 2014 R2 it still has "Evaluation" tagged behind the name of the product. Is this the live product that I need to update my current Groupwise 2014 SP2 system?

Also, anybody using Mobility 2014 R2 yet? Easy upgrade from 2.1?

Groupwise 2014 R2 and Outlook Appointments

$

Good afternoon,

So before upgrading to Groupwise 2014 R2 when a user received an appointment from an external outlook user it would come in as a calendar invite/appointment that they could either accept or decline and it would then go onto their calendar if they accepted it. Since upgrading to 2014 R2 the appointments are coming in as just emails with an .ics attachment attached. Users cant even see the appointment info and don't understand how to add it to their calendar. Any insight on how to get Groupwise to handle Outlook appointments like normal calendar appointments again?

Thanks,

i contacted Novell and they told me that The proxydhcp gives you the address of the tftp server to download the image and nvlbp.sys, which is the bootstrap program. Each log entry corresponds to a request it received for this purpose.

But at the moment we dont imaging any device or boot it to pxe and there are thousands of entrys.

Can someone help me with this "problem". I'm not sure if this behavior is normal or if there is a problem with the configuration/network.

Greeting
Steffen

Hello all,

I was looking at my iPrint appliance this morning and noticed that the log files seemed to be set to go to sda not sdb so I made the change and rebooted my appliance as directed. Now the appliance seems to have rebooted fine but none of the web services are available. I get an Web Page not available ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED.

Any idea how to fix this? Printing is down right now.

FYI - IPrint Appliance 1.1

Windows 10 "Start Menu" - Assigning bundles

$

After having the strange audit database problem resolved we now have patced up our Zenworks zone to 11.4.1 and are starting to look at how it plays with Windows 10. Since laptops "took over" we merely use Zenworks as a means to provide self service to end users. We produce a wide range of bundles for installation of applications, applying settings and perform other small tasks. All of them are made available to our users via the start menu (Windows 7) where they all show up at the bottom as "ZEN-selfservice" and then a structure underneath categorizing the bundles. Easy for end users to browse and pick an application they want, easy for us to maintain. The structure builds itself simply by specifying the ZENworks explorer path, like "/ZEN-selfservice/Settings" on a bundle, and there it is to be found for everyone.
However, in Windows 10 our "ZEN-selfservice" object doesn't show up on the revised start menu. The bundles, however, all show up if I go for "All apps" -> "Novell ZENworks App". But here they are shown in alphabetical order with no structuring at all. And we have like 50 or more bundles available here.
I can find nothing in documentation about Windows 10 and its start menu. It can't be that the start menu assignment method is dropped, i hope? There is the ZENworks explorer of course, but it is really not a very smart way of providing stuff to users that expect things to be just like any laptop.
Am I missing something here?

Patch Policy Testing Failure: How to get more info?

$

We've had this issue in the past, but figured we would upgrade from 11.3.2 to 11.4.1 first to see if that fixes the issues. Now that we've upgraded, it seems we're still either confused or finding a potential issue with the system.

All the policies are set to test first, then 3 days later, deploy to the rest of the network (assigned to all devices through dynamic groups that are windows 7 or windows 8 with Zenworks 11 or newer). The test computers are just 6 devices in our department, marked as test in Zenworks. It seems the majority of the policies fail the test, as I get an email that states the following...

Novell ZENworks Patch Management Notification

The following policies were not published because of test failure

(Name of Patch Policies)

If I go look at the Bundle Status of any of these, it shows 0's on all counts (Targeted, pending, failed, success, all of them are zero). If I look at the Message Log, it is blank (No items available).

So I guess my question is: How do we diagnose what exactly failed on these policies?

Login script issues on slow computers

$

Hi guys

I could really need some help here.

Novell Client 2 SP4 on Windows 7 x64.

I have one Login Script in our eDirectory, which is applied via the containers (OUs) where users reside.

I'm pretty sure my problem doesn't have any server-side issues (such as permissions and such), let me tell you why:

Exactly the same login script for exatly the same eDirectory user runs on some machines, and on some it doesn't (at least not reliably). To simplify things, let's assume I got three types of computers: 1) fast 2) medium speed 3) slow
On the "fast" computers, the login script always runs.
On the "medium" computers, it almost always runs (maybe one login per month where it doesn't).
On the "slow" computers, it almost never runs (a guesstimate would be in 2 out of 100 logins).

Like I said, apart from their hardware, those computers are the same (even installed with the same image through ZenWorks imaging, really, only difference are the drivers I added).

I hope you get why I assume this must be a timing issue of some sort, I just guess on the slow computers the Novell Client runs into a timeout after trying to execute the script and then just doesn't.

Being an admin rather new to Novell, maybe you can help me out a bit with a few things:

1) Where would I find the logs relevant to login scripts and possible errors? I looked into the Windows event log and the folders where the Novell Client is installed, but I found nothing. Maybe I have to enable logging first?

2) Are there any (preferably registry-configurable) ways of making the Novell Client more "patient" (in the sense of just making it wait for server connections and such instead of simply not executing scripts)?

3) Am I completely off the mark with my assumption? Maybe someone with more Novell experience could take a guess why a login script would run on some computers and not on others (repeat: same OS, same user, same server, same context, same OU, same loginscript, computers on same subnet, really, only difference is the computer's hardware).

Thanks a lot!

Peter

Application Virtualization is a difficult product to troubleshoot here in the forums. Maybe your issue is one that other customers can easily answer, but more often than not, AV issues require in depth discussion and lend themselves better to a service request. It's why "Mr. Automatic" replies to so many questions in this forum. Go ahead and post and hopefully the peer-to-peer network here will kick in. If not, our automatic reply will head you in the right direction to get your problem resolved.
