WIN10 locking up at login screen after ZCM agent install

We have been having an issue with Windows 10 locking up at the windows login screen. The mouse moves, but keyboard commands do not work. I thought it was a specific keyboard issue, but same results when remote controlling the PC. If the PC boots and is logged in right away you can login, but if it sits for any amount of time it does this. Issue appears right after the ZCM client has been installed. We are NOT using DLU, but rather auto login (everybody gets the same local account). This works fine until ZCM enters the mix. Any ideas?

11.4.1 Certificates tab errors

I updated Zenworks from 11.3 to 11.4.1. Everything went well but the certificates tab under Configuration shows an error. "Error retrieving data. Please try refreshing the page..." This is under the Zenworks server ssl Certificates pain where you can generate csr's and remint certificates. Do any of you know where the logs I should look at would be for this?

Upgraded to 11.4.1 - How do I get an image on the server?

I am most decidedly NOT a fan of the new interface/function/format of the Zenworks Appliance. We just upgraded from 11.3.2 to 11.4.1. At least on 11.3.2, it was a mostly normal Linux install, with a lot of fuctionality still available. Starting with 11.4.0, that is all gone. Yes, I can still get to a terminal, but so many things are now MUCH more complicated than they used to be.

First and foremost, how in the blazes do I upload an image to the appliance? On 11.3.2, I had a Samba share set up, and could drag and drop various machine images we had made over to the server. Or, barring that, I could WinSCP to the server and upload/download/delete images that way. It seems that ALL of that functionality is now gone as of 11.4.. Yes I can use file explorer to upload images, but it balks at me every time a file is over 4GB (over 90% of our images) and refuses to upload the image. I also seemingly cannot WinSCP to the appliance anymore, so I can't even do it that way. Is there a workaround? I hope so, because if not, this is an epic FAIL by Novell.

GW2014R2 change display order - mail "hidden"

Hi all,
Client GW2014R2 (checked on W7 and W10), OES2015 server fully patched.
After client start - when mail is clicked once with mouse (focused - but no quick display), then order changed from "by date" to "by sender" or "by subject" (clicking on bar on top in proper column), emails display order changing, but "marked" email is invisible. When tasting arrow key down or up - mailbox is browsed to display proper mail on center of list.
This happening just after opening client - later order change works properly. Looks that system not got proper "refresh" command.
Checked on "Inbox" on different GW systems (but both 2014R2).

Device Refresh time and logs to look at

I have ZCM 11.4.1 running on a single ZCM linux appliance serving 5 or 10 PCs or so on a LAN at this time. When I try to push out an agent update to a Windows WS through the Windows proxy, it seems to take a long time. I queue up the job in the Configuration ~ System Updates screen then see it pending. I go to the Devices screen and run the quick task to refresh the device. At this point it appears to take maybe 10 to 15 minutes or so before the device starts doing the agent update. I don't know if something is hung up or what is happening.

What is the typical length of time it should take from the time I do a Quick Task refresh of a WS to the time that it will start to do the agent update?

Is there a log or logs on the Linux appliance and/or on the Windows WS that I can tail to see what is happening and make sure things are moving along?

Is there a way to shorten the time period it takes to do an update?

Post 11 SP4 Update Prereq required for all devices?

I thought that the Post 11 SP4 update Prereq was only required for servers. TID 7016896 says that it should be deployed to all primary servers and in the Configuration ~ System Updates ~ Available System Updates, the target column says servers only. However, after deploying it successfully to our single primary server and then applying 11.4.1 to the server successfully I then tried to push out the agent to a WS running agent version 11.2.4 and I get the error "The update failed because the pre-requisite update, (Post 11SP4 Update Prereq), was not available. Download the required update and retry."

After pushing the Post 11SP4 Update Prereq to the primary server, I had deleted it from the list of available system updates because I thought it was not needed any more. Is it in fact needed to be pushed out to all the WS as well before pushing out the 11.4.1 agent???

Question about Filr search behaviour

Hi Forum,
In Filr web interface looking for filename and/or content
- Gives result for “Admin” (the Filr built in one) user
- Gives nothing for a “simple” user having access to the file (on the file system and through Filr (the NetFolder), too)

Any explanation on that one ?

I would agree on such behavior if user does not have access witch is not the case here ….
Env :
Filr is 1.2 with HP4
Users source is eDirectory, file system is OES 11 sp2 about 800Gb/950.000 files

Push REG key to HKLM - works but then is erased after user l

Hello all,

I am trying to push a registry key change to HKLM for the Legalnoticecaption and Legalnoticetext.

I have created a simple Windows Bundle - Install - RegEdit and Imported the keys. I have it set to install as System and the keys are set to create always.

I have assigned the bundle to a couple of systems; Distribution, on Event, Device Boot and checked the box to install immediately after distribution.

If the system is powered down completely and then powered on, the keys distribute and after a CTRL+ALT+DEL, the user is presented with the message and then they can click OK and then login.

If the user logs off or the computer is restarted, the next user will not be presented with the Legal Notice. If you shut the computer down completely and then power on, the key is distributed and the first user will get the notice.

Other things of note, we use DLU non-volatile for staff and volatile for students.

Any thoughts on this matter are greatly appreciated.

Reset Client Options for Post Office

There was a tid for gw2014 that talked about how to reset the default client options for an entire post office.

Well I needed to use it today, but can not find it.

Any documentation I look for gives me link not found errors, for any 2014sp2 documentation.

R2 is not LIVE yet, only as evaluation, can we get the documentation reinstated for 2014sp2?

Hi!
ZCM 11.3.2. Windows 7 Pro SP1.
Randomly I start to in ZCC see errors like ...
"There was an error setting file rights for C:\Windows\TEMP\09c621c3-3c05-4ae8-a28c-938e4f510a4b\d1f68cd76b7ace3fc0acb86bb9df3a8a-<bundle-name>-999Input.xml on
Object reference not set to an instance of an object..". On two similar bundles running on device during refresh, doing similar works. Could these interfere each other somehow?
(Something familiar and ... found from ZCM 10.2 such a thread I had ...

Will certs with SHA-2 on OES2015 interoperate with NW6.5sp8

Hi,

Looking into the feasability of supporting SHA2 certs on a mixed network of OES2015 and NetWare 6.5sp8. Novell just released updates to eDirectory to support the creation and use of the tree RootCA using SHA-2 ciphers - see TID 7017122. There is no mention of whether or not this will break the communications between edirectory on OES2015 and NetWare. Since there is no support for SHA2 on NetWare I suspect that the NetWare servers will no longer be able to decipher encrypted comms from eDirectory on OES2015 servers upgraded to support SHA-2. But I could be wrong... It would be nice if I was wrong - can anyone provide insight into this scenario?

14.2 gw connector doesn't start with check sslcert enabled

hi,

after upgrading to gms 14.2 the gw connector doesn't start when the option check ssl cert is enabled. running mcheck reavealed some issues with the ca store. after updating the mob_ca.pem with the chained ca mcheck doesnt show any errors. for this to work i changed the poa ip address to the dns name of the server holding the poa.

any hints how to get the connector work with the ssl check option enabled?

Old account get stuck in GMS after rename

To whom it may concern

We are using GMS 2-1.1 and GroupWise 2014 SP2.A user's eDirectory and GroupWise account was renamed.The old account worked 100% on GMS.The old account was deleted from the GroupWise mobile server.When I tried to add the new account on GMS, the old account appears with the new LDAP details.

I then add it but it stays failed, even affer reinitialize it.The user can login to eDir. and GroupWise without any problems.I then used dsapp to remove the account, and adding it again with the same issue.

It seems that the old account can't get removed.Is there another way of removing the old account from GMS ?

User_Generated Stats During Upgrade to 11.4

Currently on 11.3.2 going to 11.4. While attempting first Primary I get this error:

ZENWorks detects user_generated statistics in the Zenworks Database.
Since Zenworks changes a few columns from not null to Null or vice-verse, this causes the upgrade to fail.
to continue with the process, clear the generated statistics.

I found a post online on how to find the user_generated stats in the SQL DB, and it worked. I see entries.

My question is what am I suppose to to continue, and how do I do it?

upgrading GW 2012 SP2 to SP4

Upgrading GW 2012 SP2 to GW2012 SP4

Do I simply select Create or Upgrade a GroupWise System
run through the installation
and select Update > point to domain

Done?

I just seem to recall - it was necessary to Install / Configure Web Access and GWIA

May be I'm confusing it with version say 8 > 2012 update

Actually, I've just done one as a Test

Started the agents & Monitor shows DOM, PO & GWIA at 12.04

Just checking ... appreciate any comment...

14.2 GMS still uses Hostname for autodiscover

Hi,

unfortunately gms still uses the hostname for autodiscover. this is a hassle since nearly all gms machines reside on a local domain or public subdomain and email addresse reside on the domain. since autodiscover only works with ssl enabled you want to stick to a none used public subdomain such as intra.example.com so you don't have to transfer certificates to the client devices.

in order to have autodiscover working your gms hostname has to be a public one such as gms.example.com so that autodiscover will do the configuration job.

with that said i'm only able to access gms admin console via ip or public domain name when port 8120 is open on the firewall. ip will allways get a certificate warning and opening the port 8120 might not be best practice.

if anybody has setup multiple hostnames (public and local) for gms and still got autodiscover working, please let me know.

14.2: GMS Agent Manager stops working after a while

Hi,

sry to bother you guys, but gms 14.2 is more buggy than all other releases of gms. the gms agent manager (datasync-connectors) stops working after some time (2-3 hours) which prevents mobile devices from snyching mails. although status says running via console and admin console the agent manager doesn't do his job.

when i restart the gms agent manager via rcdatasync-connectors restart mail start getting snyched again. i suppose it is the groupwise agent which causes the mailfunction.

any ideas on this?

Memory usage 100% on Agent 11.3 .0.35304

Hi

When the agent is on a machine that has a 'triplitte' ethernet over usb device attached the memory usage spikes to 100% and stays there until the either the agent is removed or the device driver is remove.
Windows 7 x64 sp1.

Any ideas on how to resolve, other than not to have the zen agent installed? The machines are in lecture venue cabinets so they need to have USB over ethernet to be used.
