Dear GroupWise Forum,
there was a connection problem between the GroupWise 2014 SP2 MTA (secondary domain) and a Postoffice, the POA went down, unfortunately the poa restart job was not active, so the poa was restarted manually.
The GW System consists of a primary domain server (OES11 SP2) and three OES11 SP2 Cluster Nodes. All servers are virtualized (VMware ESXi 6). The clustered volumes are on devices that are Raw LUNs (EMC Storage). The affected MTA and POA are on the same cluster node. Port conflicts should not be an issue, because the inbound TCP Port 7102 is only assigned once on this machine. Document Viewer Agent is enabled and active for the POA.
There was no change in configuration. Also this connection problem occurs for the first time and comes out of the blue.
In the MTA Log following has been found:
...
17:32:12 F68D MTP: <Postoffice name>-ipS3: Unable to open connection 0x8925. Address = <cluster server name>, Port = 7102
17:32:12 F7E7 MTP: <Postoffice name>-ipS0: Unable to open connection 0x8925. Address = <cluster server name>, Port = 7102
17:32:12 F68D <Postoffice name>: Post office now closed
...
this entry was repeated every few minutes until the poa was restarted.
Perhaps interesting to mention: There is another PO on the same cluster node with inbound TCP Port 7106. This PO respectively POA was not affected by the connection problem.
Hopefully this was an single event. But it would be interesting if anybody has some information about this occurrence.
Thank you for your hints.
Kind regards
Florian

Hello,
we have update our ZCM from 11.3 to 11.4.1 - when i update the Client Agent on the Workstation, our massstorage device control policy don't work!
I have a policy that disable all storage devices ( USB,DVD,floppy etc) for all Users, then i have a second Policy who allows USB massstorage device for some users. With the Client agent 11.3.1 this work with no problem - with the client agent 11.4.1 USB massstorage device are for all disable. Where is the problem !?
Perhaps you have another solution for make a policy where at first all storage devices ( USB,DVD,floppy etc) for all User are disable, but for only some exclude User there can use it.
A solution with --> Policy A "storage devices Disable" for User "1,3,5,6....34"
and a --> Policy B "storage devices allow" for user "2,4" is not the solution, that i want.

Dear ZENworks Forum,
applying Imaging Driver Update zenworks11.3.2_FRU1_Dec15 causes the Imaging process, started via pxe - "Start ZENworks Imaging Maintenance" - img - "Restore Image" on a Workstation, getting a Segmentation fault. Workstation does not get imaged.
The old Drivers were rolled back with the command ./imaging_driver_update.sh -r and Imaging is functioning again.
Primary Server System is:
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (x86_64)
VERSION = 11
PATCHLEVEL = 3
ZCM : 11.3.1.0
Database: internal sybase
Is thera way to apply the Imaging Driver Update zenworks11.3.2_FRU1_Dec15 successfully?
Thank you for hints.
Kind regards

Hello,
Filr newbie here.
I'm trying to change the text on the Filr Masthead to the name of our school. In SSPR the management interface had a link to tweak the default home page, I don't see anything similar in Filr.
Does anyone know were this can be changed?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Allen

Hello there,
ZCM current environment-
OES SUSE 11.3
ZCM 11.3.1 (2 Primary servers- Server1 holds database)
I have just upgraded my current ZCM environment from 11.3.1 to 11.4 on one of the primary servers (server 1), The installation was successful but gave an error "The upgrade of ZENworks 11 SP4 is finished but some errors occurred during the upgrade. please see the upgrade logs for details "
When I log in to ZCM control centre and check the Zenworks version it still shows as 11.3.1 and not 11.4, I have to upgrade the second server (server 2) but do not want to proceed before I make sure the first server is upgraded successfully.
I have checked the logs under /var/opt/novell/log/zenworks/system-update/5011030100fc50000000002014070916/System-update.log, but the logs reflect the time stamp an older date (possibly when I upgraded to 11.3.1)
Is there any other location for the logs file??
Is it that both the servers need to be upgraded before it shows up in ZCM control centre with the new zenworks version??
Can someone please advise, thanks for any help.
Raj.

Hi,
I swear I've seen this been asked before, but can't find the post for the life of me.
Is there a way to automate taking an image from a machine? or from a script?
In an ideal world, just using something like the MAC address to identify the machine, and set it to take an image on next boot.
Thanks

Hello!
I desperately try to give a user admin right to a PO and always fails.
This is the curl command I try:
curl -s -k -X PUT -H "Content-Type: application/xml" --user admin:pass
https://server:9710/gwadmin-service/...fices/mypo/acl --data @-
And this is the xml:
<object xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"><id>USER.mydomain.mypo.myuser</id><rights>WRITE</rights></object>
I just get a BAD_REQUEST error.
I tried a few things already without any luck.
Please advise!
TIA,
Gellért

We have a one server environment. We recently updated from OES 11 SP2 to 2015 (this is running on SLES 11 SP3). I have noticed that when the NSS volume is mapped in Client 2 SP4 for Windows (IR1), after browsing through a few folders, windows explorer becomes unresponsive and will even crash at times. Usually this takes 1-3 minutes then it will recover, and happen again after browsing through a few different folders.
Originally I thought this was only happening on Windows 10 machines but yesterday I was able to recreate this on a Windows 7 machine. I will say this is the only time I have seen this happen on a Windows 7 computer though. We did not have an issue with either Windows version while on OES 11 SP2. Has anyone else seen this issue and know of a fix, or where I should begin looking to find the problem? Any information or advice would be much appreciated!

I can provide screen shots if needed.
Since upgrading to GW2014R2 I have had a strange happening. (assumption: nds uname= fmlast | GW uname = flast)
I have set the preferred address format in system to: username@internetdomain. Domain, PO and User options are set to NOT over-ride and show where it is set from.
In iManager after creating the NDS user object and using the GW selection, the user gets created in the GW system. I then rename the user in the GW system to match naming scheme. I select synchronize and also publish e-mail address. When selecting "view email addresses" the (at the top) "Preferred Address Format:" is correct with flast shown. When I look at the NDS object the fmlast is published from GW system. When I look at the GW:userobject:General tab it shows the flast for the email address.
So When I look at the NDS object to see the new published address it is NOT updated.
If I take the GW:userobject:internet addressing tab and click override for Preferred Address Format, even though it already shows username@internetdomain, then publish the address, it pushes it correctly. If I set it off of override and publish again, it will set it back incorrectly.
In thinking that the system is just not seeing the correct setting, I changed the system, domain, post office -- to a different setting and then set them all back to the corrected default, with no change to the corrected outcome.
This was working correctly with GW2014, it just changed after R2 installation.

I'm getting the error:
"Error: File Protocol error occurred: cannot open the NSS version file on the selected server. The NSS software may not currently be running on this server."
This is a new OES11sp3 box; NetWare and openwbem don't apply.
Another server that was set up two weeks prior the same way is fine.
The data is accessible via UNC, and NSSMU seems to work fine. The NSS admin object is there, and I myself am definitely LUM enabled for every server.
Users do complain of intermittent access which a reboot fixes, but I'm not sure if this is a red herring or not.

iFolder 3.92 running on OES11SP2
All users can access files via the installed Windows client
Admin web tools function as expected
No user, including admin can login into the iFolder web page.
When supplying credentials, they are immediately returned to a login page asking for credentials to be re-entered and the URL shows
https://ifolderserver.someserver.com...N.UNAUTHORIZED.
Have tried Chrome, IE and Firefox with the same results.
Tailing the simias.log during the process shows nothing so I assume we are not even getting that far.
A packet trace seems to show some client server exchange over 443 so I am assuming maybe a certificate issue? I can't tell from the trace if there is a failure during the exchange. No resets or odd traffic to strange IP addresses.
Just looking for troubleshooting ideas as I am very new to the iFolder product. Thank you.

Just upgraded to 2014 R2 and have settings in /var/opt/novell/groupwise/webacc.cfg to set default calendar view to "Month" and for Webaccess to not remember username/password.
Calendar still comes up in "Week" view, not "Month" and I am prompted continually about if I want to have my password saved.
These are not big items, but I could never get them to work right in 2014, and now with 2014 R2 it appears they still are not working.

Late last year, we had a user whose account was missing all email between March 2015 and December 2015 when in caching mode.
The email was present while the user was in on-line mode.
The users computer is running Windows 7 and the 2014SP2 client.
We tried:
Tools|retrieve entire mailbox.
Placing the client in remote mode, which allows you to set the retrieval date range. I've used this in the past for users whose cache didn't go back all the way to their earliest email.
Renaming the cache folder and forcing a recreation of the folder.
We then tried the above with two other computers.
One ran the version 8 client on an XP machine.
The other ran the version 2012 client on Windows 7, then the 2014Sp2 client.
Nothing changed.
I submitted an SR (10981513931) and was told to run a GWCheck stand-alone contents check only against the userxxx.db file, then archiving some of the germane email while in live mode, synching the cache, un-archiving them and syncing the cache again.
The user was in a time-crunch at that point, so we agreed to wait until later to do so.
I now have two more users exhibiting the same problem.
In the second case, all email from 4 February 2015 and 11 June 2015 are missing.
The user is running Windows 10 and the 2014SP2 client.
I've not gotten details on the third occurrence.
The differing time periods would appear to eliminate the possibility of a user-specific issue.
The system is running 2014Sp1Hp1 on OES11SP2.
Not that I think it would matter, but the GroupWise server is running all EXT3; no NSS.
I've asked the second user to try the archive/sync/unarchive/sync process to see if it's successful, but that's not a real solution.
I'll be submitting another SR, but I'd like to know if anyone here in the forums has experienced this or if anyone has an idea regarding possible causes/solutions.

I have installed a second Domain and PostOffice on a Windows 2012R2 Server. Primary Domain and PO works on a SLES11 Server.
Install run fine and i was able to create secondary domain and po.
But i'm not able to log into the gw admin console on the windows server.
There is an error message:
"Domain server not trusted. If you trust this server, add the server certificate to the trust store"
Which certificate does it mean?
Logon to the admin console on primary server works

I am building a test GW14r2 test system.
The server is built with SLES 14sp4. Everything "looks ok". I can see the PO and MTA are running. There are no errors in the log files.I have created 2 users for testing, the server is not connected to any directory. I can login to the HTTP consoles.
The issue is I can not login into the PO using a GW8 client from my PC. The client says "user not found". Also from my PC I can bring up the HTTP PO or MTA consoles. I can ping the server from my PC. My PC is windows 7.
What did I miss?
Thanks

Hi there,
I have 4 SLES 11 servers to upgrade from ZCM 11.3 to ZCM 11.4 and then from ZCM 11.4 to ZCM 11.4.1
I only have a short timeframe in which to complete these upgrades on all 4 servers and do testing.
Do all servers have to be upgraded to the same version at the same time.
If the services remain off on say two of the server and the main primary and one other is upgraded,
can the remaining two be upgraded a few days later.
I't just worried I will run out of time during our maintenance slot to complete all the work.
Thanks

We are using Zenworks to deploy a network printer to our PCs.
However it doesn't always set the printer as a default.
The only printer installed locally on the PCs is PDFCreator.
Under the Reg key of HKLM\Software\Novell we have the following keys:
http://i.imgur.com/bNuFQGu.jpg
Is this normal or is the fact there are 2 different defaults set causing an issue?
We also looked at increasing the PrintWaitTime and MaxZenPrinterProcessingTimeOut in case these were causing an issue but the problem remains.

Running filr 1.1 (not a appliance)..all patches installed..If I open a web browser and login to filr, I can click on any file and save it to my desktop no problem. However, if I select any file or folder and click on more (download as zip file). the zip file that ends up on my desktop will not open up with any un-zip program.. and the resulting file that lands on my desktop is consistently smaller than the original one on the server by a few K..When I try to open the downloaded zip file, I get a error : Warning error in zip structure, and a central header signature is wrong... any ideas of where to look ??

Hello,
we are using two primary servers with zcm 11.4.1 and clients with zcm 11.4.
If i connect me to the clients and press ctrl+alt+del it takes very very long that something happens on the remote computer.
I found this KB entry:
https://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7011558
The solution is to use zcm 11.4... hm...that is strange because we are using this version. I installed a new pc with zcm 11.4.1 and the same problem occurs.
Is there any solution to fix this problem?
