Update Userinformation

Hi Forum,

I'm struggling where to start... so I just start here :)

We are using Groupwise 2014 with eDir as User Backend.
Unfortunately an big part of the user information (like department or phone number) is incomplete, outdated or something else.
To correct this, I received an excel file with the most actual data and I was told to "import" it.

Sooo... where would you start?

My first thought was a perl script that uses LDAP to modify the users. But is this possible?

Hello,

how can I query our Groupwise Server (Groupwise 2014 SP1 on SLES11 SP3) from our Cisco IronPort email and web security Gateway whether an e-Maill address exist or not. Perhaps over LDAP?
We want to eliminate SPAM-Mails before they reach our Groupwisesystem.

Error 127: The specified file or directory name is invalid

Hello,

I am trying, for the first time, to Groom a users home directory. I had created user Home directory policy and have added vault and groom options to it. I pointed both options to the same archive location. The Home directory portion of the policy has been working for years. When I run the Groom, NSM will create the new directory on the archive server, but then error out.

I been fighting this issue most of the day. During that time I did find a couple other issues, like the Engine server was pointing to a non-existent SLP location (fixed it), but during the whole time this error kept surfacing.

I did find a post, on the forums, that someone had see this error having to do with Kanaka, but they did not put the TID number in the post which helped fix it.

I am running NSM Engine 4.0.0.11, Event 4.0.0.4, and Agent 4.0.0.3. (If I'm remembering correctly.) The Engine is on an OES11 Sp1 server, the user is on an OES11 SP1 server, and the archive is an OES2 sp3 box. I should mention, the archive server in question is showing up in "path analysis" and "Storage Resource List", though it is not in the server listing under "Global Statics". I added an Agent to the archive box, but it didn't seem to help.

Any suggestions on where to go from here would be appropriated.

Surface Pro 3 BSOD

We're getting frequent BSOD with---

  • Surface Pro 3
  • Windows 8.1 (updated to Win 10 to attempt to fix but no luck)
  • ZCM FTF Roll Up 1 for ZENworks (11.3.2) (updated to FTF attempt to fix but no luck)
  • Connect to a Miracast remote display device, or sometimes on login or shutdown or just randomly.


Ever since we got our first Surface Pro 3 we've been seeing occasional BSODs, mostly at login or shutdown. Now that we're rolling out Miracast devices for remote display, the problem has gotten out of control. More than 50% of the time Windows will BSOD with ndis.sys or zeswifi.sys or irql_not_less_or_equal errors. Maybe this has something to do with the temporary virtual network connection created when connecting to a miracast device? We are in desparate need of a solution. Completely removing zen seems to be the only fix. Is there some way to remove ZES but keep the rest of zen? We aren't licensed for anything ZESM related. I realize it supports location awareness.

I'd open a SR but we're education licensed and don't get any freebies.

error creating NSS volume

Trying to create a new NSS volume on bran new SuSE11sp3-OES11sp2 server. Physical server, two drive mirrored. Disk has 2 linux partitions on it with 300GB of free space that we want to create a NSS volume on it. When we go into nssmu, and try and create the Pool, it gives error, Error 23343 No partition entries available. I know there use to be an issue creating a NSS partition in OES2 with it being on same drive linux partitions, but I didn't think that was the issue in SuSE11 OES11. Has anyone run into this issue?

Archiving question

Hello.

One of our users told the following to me:
When he archives messages from a specific folder, the message is inside the archive in a folder with another name. We're running GW 2014 Sp2 (Win7 Sp1 on client, sles 11 Sp3 OES11 Sp2 on server)
The users archive is large. There are more than 50.000 files with nearly 36GB.

What happens here? The user told me, that the folders wasn't renamed (?).

Install 11.3.2 FTF Roll up fails on XP

An old XP ws failed the HDD
So clean install of XP Pro, patch all patches.
Installed Novell Client 4,91 SP5 ir2
Then tried to do install of the Zenworks Client, server currently on 11.3.2 FTF Roll-up

ZW client install properly, asks for reboot, then when rebooting the error comes :
Error in Explorer.exe, caused by nalshell.dll.

Retried with 11.3 full install, same.

Tried to reconfigure the package on the server, same problem.

Everytime unable to register, even zac reg gives :
Failed to Connect to IPC port.

Any ideas ( need to keep this one to XP )

ZCM Agent can not Authenticate against Server

Hello Everybody,

we have some troubles with our ZCM Satallite Server. When i want to install a Bundle over the Satallite it doesn´t work anymore. At the Primary it all goes well.
Also the Image installation don´t get right on because he can not authenticate with the ZCM Satallite Server.
Can somebody help me....

Digicert SSL

Just installed a new filr 1.2 appliance and am having issues with installing a digitcert SSL certificate. I create a sha256 self-signed, get the csr up to digitcert, and when i go to import the reply I get an error. I'd like to know when I can find the error logs for installing the SSL cert and also if anyone else has suggestions on getting the cert installed.

Hi everyone - I searched around for some answers to my questions, but I couldn't find anything that I felt directly addressed our situation, so I thought I'd ask to be sure of things. I find these things can get pretty complicated quickly...

We have been running ZENworks 11.2.x on a 32-bit SLES server for a while. We'd like to move to sp3 (and then onto sp4, now that I see it's out), but I understand that sp3 requires a 64-bit server. Our idea for a solution was to:

1. spin up a 64-bit sp2 virtual appliance as another primary in the zone
2. uninstall / unregister our original non-appliance 32-bit server
3. do the appliance migration / upgrade to sp3

I couldn't find anything in any documentation that said this wouldn't be possible, but we're running into some errors and alarming warnings on the way, thus I'm asking in these forums. There are warnings in the documentation that if we uninstall our first primary server in the zone, we'll lose our database (it's internal) because the database only lives on the first primary. It's hard for me to believe that we can never retire the first primary ZENworks server we set up, so that raises the question of what is meant by "first?" Is it first chronologically, or is it first as in the other primary server is below it in server hierarchy?

Assuming that "first" is speaking hierarchically, and not chronologically, how should we uninstall ZENworks from the 32-bit server? I am unsure on which server I'm supposed to run the zenuninstall script from, the one being retired (a full-on SLES box for us) or the one that will remain (the 11sp3 appliance). Also, I've read that the appliance doesn't actually allow the running of zenuninstall, so if I'm not supposed to run that script from the retiring server, how should I run it? Or is my only option deleting the server via ZCC's server hierarchy section?

As you can see, I've got a lot of interlocking questions that I can't seem to find confident answers to in the documentation. Any help from the forum crew is much appreciated!

gw.conf file missing

Hello,

After a failed attempt at upgrading from 14.0.0 to 14.0.02 and a subsequent attempt at a reinstallation my gw.conf file has gone missing. What are the proper steps in getting it back? I've tried reinstalling Webaccess, Apache and Tomcat. Help?

changing password for RESOURCE

Hello,
we're on GW2014sp2 and I have a resource with a password that is forgotten. I can take ownership of the resource and proxy to it, but it has a password that I can't clear/change. In the GW web admin console, the only password reset option I could find for a Resource is under the Client Options/Security but that doesn't seem to do anything. thanks for your help.

ZPM: "CachedItemError" & "Failed to launch"

Bundles that I create with ZPM have not been working for us for awhile.

The vast majority of bundles fail and log the following "ActionMan.CachedItemError" message in ZPM:

There is an error in cached information for id <<Bundle Name>> The content is not yet available to download.
Additionally, users have been getting a long narrow popup error from Zenworks saying:

Failed to launch: Could not find the file "C:\Program Files (x86)\Novell\ZENworks\work/content-repo/tmp/zpm/plp//windows/C513513D-0069-48C3-A8FD-4B01B687BD63.plp" to install.
After clicking "OK", the error continues to pop up about a dozen times, with just the PLP filename in the error changing each time, before finally no longer popping up. Not only is this quite annoying for the user, but more importantly we're behind on our patches. I've searched around but I can't seem to find anything they changes this.

Any direction would be much appreciated. Thanks for your time and help.

eDirect Object deleted

I'm looking for assisting on critical that i'm currently in at the moment.

I mistakenly deleted certificate objects in my eDirectory three that is currently impacting my production server.

I deleted Ojbect:

DNS AG : Object
IP AG : Object
SSL CertifcateDNS.


How can get them back?

I'm new the eDirectory world.

Any hits helps big time.

When run NDSrepair -T : I get the following:::Unable to connect to NDS Server. NDS server may be down.

Transfer Delayed/Transferred?

Yesterday, we had an internet outage and outbound email was cut off for a time. When it was restored, the outbound deliveries seemed to complete, but the sent message properties in the GW Clients still showed "Transfer Delayed". However, drilling down further into the message status reveals "Transfer Delayed" AND "Transferred", although the overall status was still "Transfer Delayed". Is this expected behaviour?

search_search operation return all entries despite...

HI. I use search_search web service operation. Created XML query. All works fine but function returns all entries. Even if I configure custom access control for an entry and it should be read only by owner and not returned.
If I use search_search to find binders it works just exactly as I want and returns only these binders which i specified in access control.
Where is the problem? Is it configurable ? I do not think the problem is in the xml query.

calendar publishing host doesn't publish the entire calendar

Hello,

we use webcal links for publishing some calendars. But the clients that subscribe these calendar will only find appointments until 6 months in future. I tried in Gmail, Thunderbird and Outlook, allway the same result.
The link has been generated by publishing the entire calendar, no time limits were set.

I think, there will be a hidden option at server side so I would be able to adjust the period that will be shown.

Do you know what to do?

New eDir User and DLU taking effect

If I create a new user in eDir, it takes a "period of time" before the DLU policy actually works.

I say "period of time" because I haven't actually sat down and timed it, but it's at least a half hour and probably closer to an hour.

All my other DLU users work fine. I had this happen the other day with a student account, then today a teacher account. I can apply DLU to the workstation as well, then DLU works right away, but I go to another machine and get the Windows login screen.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong with user creation or something in ZCM that isn't set up right. I left my previous Novell school right before moving to Windows 7, and now back at an eDir shop. Working with AD and ZCM the past 3 years, so didn't have this issue.
