Backing up open files

Hello -

I am currently using the dreaded Backup Exec 2012 and the current RALUS agent to backup my SLES 11.2/OES11.1 servers. Since I cannot backup any open files I was thinking about using a script that would clear all the user connections before the backup runs. For the most part, the open files that usually get skipped are Office and Excel docs.

Does anyone see any problems with this or are there other solutions from those using BE and OES-L?
