Path for the group policy content is null

I know there is a TID describing this error and that it is fixed in 11.2.2
We are upgrading from 11.2.1 to 11.2.2 MU1
140 Servers are all upgraded to 11.2.2 MU1
3000 workstations still on 11.2.1 (no MU)
We have not had any group policy issues until servers were updated over the weekend.
I now have 2-3000 users not getting Policy (no homepage in IE8, no internet proxy etc)
We were not planning to upgrade workstations until mid January.
Is there any work around we can do to get group policy working again until workstations can be upgraded?
I have tried selecting workstation in policy and doing Action | Refresh All Policies.
