MSSQL best practices

Is there any other guides or information when running the database on mssql ? I went through the best practice guide starting on page 53. Mainly what I'm looking for is information on compatibility mode and whether or not we will need to use it. We are running zcm11.1a and migrating database to mssql 2008 r2 (non-sp1).
