Single email restore from dbcopy backups?
I know there are many people out there using dbcopy every night to backup their PO databases. Has anyone been able to restore a deleted email from Backup, after the next dbcopy has finished? Let me give you an example:
1. I've deleted the contents of the current restore area
2. I've run dbcopy /source /dest (without any options)
3. I've deleted one of my old emails in the GW client
4. I accessed the Backup from within the GW Client - and my deleted email was there (I could restore it if I wanted)
5. I've run once again dbcopy /source /dest (without any options)
6. Once it finished, I went again in the Backup from within the GW Client - and the mail in point 4 was not there!
So, question - how do I restore my email from point 4?
Or dbcopy simply isn't suitable for this? If so, then what is?

iCal questions about GW2012 appointments
Some things I noticed while sending appointments to external email systems (GW2012SP1 clients+domain+gwia sending to MS Exchange 2010 with Outlook 2010 clients):
- Sending an appointment to external users is OK (iCal message, can be accepted etc.). But when changing something minor in the appointment (extra recipients, location) results in 2 iCal messages in the mailbox of the external user: one cancellation and one accept-mail. No change notification. Is this a defect? Because the UUID of the iCal message is the same. So there should be a change notification instead of a cancel+accept notification (!?). Or is there a setting to change this behavior?
- Cancelling an appointment with the option 'remove this item from other recipients mailboxes' without any further comment never sends an external iCal message and thus the appointment stays in the external mailbox. Cancelling an appointment with a text in the comment field sends an iCal message to external recipients for the cancellation and the appointment is removed from the external mailbox. This seems to be a bug.

GWIA does not send back undeliverable notification
In the GWIA logs I see sender, building message, recipient. Then nothing else. My GW optional gateway settings are Convert Status to messages=Yes, Outbound Status Level=Undelivered. Do I have something set wrong?

GW 6.5 > 2012 Help
So I have purchased GW 2012 and ordered my hardware for my SLES 11 server to house it. I have purchased The Caledonia Guide to Moving GroupWise and The Caledonia Upgrade Guide for GroupWise 2012 (wouldn't think about tackling an upgrade without Danita - we have been using GroupWise since it was WordPerfect Office). It sounds like I really should upgrade my 6.5 GW in place to version 8 first and THEN move it to the new SLES server (after some cramming on Linux) and then upgrade to 2012. So my question is can I use version 8 for some time in the interim? And if so where can I get a copy of version 8?

Looking through the patches availabe in Patch Management, the following seem to be missing, is there a delay before they appear due to testing by Novell?
This is on a Windows 7 SP1 laptop with ZCM 11.2.2 Monthly Update 1 installed

db rebuild
Is it worth while to do a rebuild on an external sybase DB just prior to migrating to mssql? Testing seems to show it reduces the migration time...

Console One GWIA Settings Appear to not matter?
The problem I seem to have is that from Console One, if I look at the properties of GWIA, NOTHING is checked as enabled. Yet my system is running and processing mail just fine. So use SMTP is unchecked, but clearly my server is accepting and processing SMTP connections.
So, where are the settings being derived from?

GWCheck Questions
While looking at GWCheck logs I noticed some details that do not make sense to me.
In some log files I notice that for some users I see the wording "Former MDB Name" was msgx.db. I understand that this is normal for older systems because at some point the number of msg files went up and users were given new msg files after an upgrade.
In other logs I notice that GroupWise reports that these lower numbered msg.db files that that were formerly used can be reduced in size. How do I reduce these files sizes? The files appear to be no longer associated to any one user.

Attached file in new mail showing different file
Hello,
At one of our Schools, a teacher is teaching the students how to attach files to an email. They are using webaccess. As part of the process, he has them click on the attached file to confirm they have attached the proper document. From time to time, the document viewer seems to be pulling up the wrong file. When the email is sent, the attached file is correct.
It seems to me that the document viewer isn't pulling the correct attachment and is referencing some other previously attached file. Is there any piece of the document viewer where cached files are stored on the local machine? If not, any thoughts about what could be causing this?
Here's the version info of Webaccess:
Build Number: 100584
Program Release: 12.0.0 4/16/2012
This happens on a Windows 7 machine running IE8.

option for recurring appointments in calendar not available
There is no option for recurring appointments. I am new to Novell products, I used them about 10 years ago, so I am learning. I installed 2012 sp1 client and still no recurring appointments. This is really important for this client.

Problem installing Zenworks 11 SP2
Hello,
I'm trying to install Zenworks 11 SP2 on my Zenworks 11.0 server.
During the setup I selected the Embedded/OEM Sybase SQL server. However 2 screens later I am asked to specifiy the external database server.
I entered the local servername, but in the next screen I have to enter the database name and credentials and also the servername again.
I've tried everything, but it keeps saying that there was an error connecting to the database.
What am I doing wrong? I 'm not even sure what the name of the database is of where I can verify the name.
Why can't I just browse for the correct database?

Accessing Netmail via SSL
We have a NW 6.5 SP 8 server that is running Netmail 3.6.2. The we have a page on our Web server set up that you can log into Webamil by typing in your Webmail username and password. This works fine when the addres is just http:\\servernae.domain mae. When we try to use hhtps:\\server name.domain name all we get is a a circle that spins constantly.

Parallel Enviroments
We have a fairly unique scenario w/our ZENWorks environments. We're running BOTH ZCM 11 and ZFD 7 in parallel for our Windows 7 and Windows XP management respectively. As such, network-assigned work-to-do gets confused amongst the two active pre-boot servers in our environment.
Anyway to control which server should answer the work-to-do request besides using boot CD's which point to their proper server? Can I control the priority/sequence somehow? Shutting one or the other server down at the time isn't a viable option. Thanks for any help.
