OES2 SP4 (IR3) Client - Can't delete Files on Netdrive

Hi all,

since our migration from Win7 to Win10, we are using the Client for Open Enterprise Server 2 SP4 (IR3) Clients. Everything seemed to work fine but today I noticed that we are having problems deleting/moving Folders from our Novell Network drive (OES Server). The strange thing is, that when I select the folder that I want to delete and select delete, it will show the progress bar and then close it, just like if it was successful. But the folder is still there. Even with a refresh or checking from another Client.

I have tried to delete the same folder from a Win7 Client with a Novell Client 2 SP3 for Windows 7 (IR8) installed. There it worked without problems...

Is this a known issue with the new OES Client?

Is My Satellite Server Actually Replicating Content?

Hello everyone,

I have recently inherited responsibility of our young Zenworks infrastructure in a college environment. We've been having imaging performance issues in our progressive transition from multicast Ghosts to unicasts ZMGs. Short term, multicasting in our computer labs is not a solution. A couple of issues have come up. We have 3 primary servers virtualized in one campus and 1 satellite virtualized in a secondary campus but all are fiber linked. Only one primary server seems to be doing all the lifting so we're looking at redistributing roles and migrating primary servers to our secondary campus but this will come later.

Right now, I'm looking at our satellite server which has authentication, collection and content roles. We're just not sure it's actually helping distribute bundles in our secondary campus to offload our heavy lifting primary server. I can see it's at the top of the "Closest Servers For Roles" list on our agents so "location" seems to be working for our secondary campus. Here's what I can't figure out:

Some old and new content hosted on the satellite seems to be "unavailable" and I'm having a hard time understanding why other recent content's status is "available". The 3 primary server contents are all "available". "Content Type Replication" for "Default" type content is set to run daily at 1AM with a duration of 60 minutes directly on the satellite with no throttling.

  1. Why is it that some content is "unavailable" on the satellite?
  2. Is the short 60 minute duration to blame?
  3. What is the prefered method to find out where my content is coming from during bundle installations aside from Windows Resource Monitor?
  4. Can I switch my satellite's parent primary server transparently?

Default Calendar View

I recently upgraded to GW 2014 R2 SP1 and have a user who manages a group of people and prefers to have her default calendar view be the Multi-User Calendar. This setting no longer seems to be holding when you close and reopen GroupWise. Is this expected behavior or is it bugged? Thanks!

LDAP Search Filter - Excluding Groups Issue

Hi All

Using Filr 2.0 with all 4 patches to date.

I have an AD with a bunch of users, in a bunch of OUs (let's pretend the OUs are called A, B, C). In each OU, there are a bunch of users and groups. The groups are called (in their respective OUs): A-Filr-Users, B-Filr-Users, C-Filr-Users. Each group contains users only from their OU. It's these users I want to import into Filr. The users must only have visibility of users within their groups.

Easy enough you think (what with the Limit User Visibility function), but the users are all in a couple of common groups outside of their OU structure (Domain Users is one, for example). This is making limiting visibility impossible for me at the moment, as it seems that regardless, Filr is enumerating the groups outside of the OUs and incorporating them - and it knows about their common membership.

Ideally, I'd like to either restrict the LDAP import to just the users in, and the Filr-related groups (A-Filr-Users, B-Filr-Users, C-Filr-Users), or exclude the common groups from import.

Current filters are (an example):

Base DN for both: ou=A,DC=domain,DC=local
User Filter: (&(objectClass=Person)(memberOf=CN=A-Filr-Users,OU=A,DC=domain,DC=local))
Group Filter: (|(objectClass=group)(objectClass=groupOfNames)(ob jectClass=groupOfUniqueNames))

Could anyone please help with this?

Error installing Pre Agent

We are upgrading our pre agent from 11.2.3 to 11.4.2. On a few computers, the upgrade fails. When looking at the computer, the agent is there but it is not registered to anything. I cannot uninstall by normal means, so I run the zenworks cleanup utility, which uninstalls the program. When I try to manually install the new pre agent, I get an error that states "ZENworks PreAgent Error: UNknown PreAgent Error, Check the Application Event Log for more details"

I have had to re-image about 2 computers due to this error, and we've only just begun pushing out the new agent to about a thousand computers. I'm not sure which logs to look at, and even what I would be looking at in the logs.

Has anyone experienced this and possibly have a fix?

Options for remoting 11.4.x agents

Prior to 11.4, I had never had any problem using any vnc client to manage zcm agents (ultravnc, realvnc, remmina, tightvnc, tigervnc, etc).
After upgrading to 11.4.2 most of the vnc clients fail.

Is there any work around to 11.4 that would allow me to use something other than using the ZEN Remote Management Viewer to remote pcs?

Machines shutting down after login

I have a bundle set to run in the evenings at 4:30 to shut down machines. When they login during the day and go to click on a shortcut, it will say that it can't run because the machine is shutting down and will shutdown with no messages. I have had this happen with the ZCM popup box saying it's shutting down before, but not just do it for no reason.

How would I prevent this? Should I wake all machines and make sure they shut down fully? I do NOT have the box checked for "Process immediately if device unable to execute on schedule"

It seems like it happening more on Windows 10 than Windows 7.

The original page (http://pieterzandt.auralibrary.nl/auraiclogin.aspx) is actually more complicated, but I've simplified it (removing all the unnecessary elements, including javascripts) to the point that,
after AccessManager fills in the credentials, and when I manually click the loginbutton, it will login (this is with auto-submit disabled).
But if I turn on auto-submit, the browser enters into an endless loop. This has been tested with javascript enabled and disabled, neither.

Development server with no error only get the first "INFO com.novell.pwdmgt.util.PasswordHelper- [RBPM] [Login_Success] cn=jgan,ou=sa,o=data successfully logged in."

Looking at the versions I see that the development server is 4.5.3 revision 955 while the production server is 4.5.3 revision 930.
But I don't know what step I missed uprading to 4.5.3. Or if that is the reason to the error.

User Name Change

Here's a poser....

GMS 2.1.0 Build 230 SLES11sp4 dsapp 222

A user account was pulled into GMS from GW. Unfortunately, the user's last name was mis-spelled. We removed (and force-removed) the user and re-pulled her from GW. However, the mis-spelled last name persists in GMS. Her last name is correct everywhere I look in GW and AD. It seems that force-deleting a user in dsapp leaves some vestige in the Mobility database.

Is there someplace in GMS where I can really delete this user or fix her name?

I installed dsapp 239 last week but have not tried deleting the user using that version. dsapp v239 "GroupWise checks options" run against the user did not turn up any issues. I am upgrading to GMS 14.2.0 Build 279 later today.

Unwanted e-mail from my domain

I'm receiving emails with sender who has my domain name, but it does not exist on my system.

For example document@mydomain.com, but this address does not exist on my groupwise.
Of course this is spam. How to block it?

Clients authenticating to satellite servers

Something I noticed while testing logins on a workstation.. when logging in, the login script box pops up and says "You are attached to server FSU"... well that server happens to be located in UT and we're in CA. I'm not sure whats causing this.. and don't think its "set" anywhere to do such a thing. If it's an SLP thing, the config is below. I don't think its causing any problems, other than MAYBE a slightly lower login script processing.

Shared Calendar stops email syncing to Devices

Hi,
Got a wierd one for you, I have a user who published a shared calendar with a group of users within Groupwise 2014.

proxy'd to the email account
right click on the calendar
sharing...added the users
ticked edit and delete
clicked on ok

As soon as the user added the Calendar to their Groupwise and sync through to GMS, I statrted getting this error in the groupwise-agent.log

We currently run users on two versions of GMS Version: 14.2.0 Build: 279 and Version: 2.1.0 Build: 230, any help on this will be appreciated as I am stuck as to why this is happeing

Still on 11.2.4 -- manual imaging driver update?

My organization has not moved up to SP3 (let alone SP4) and our new batch of Dell 3020 PC's won't go into the imaging environment. I feel that our problem would be solved by simply upgrading; however I am constrained from doing that at this time.

Is it possible to get the latest or prior interim driver update and manually apply that? In the docs there is an article that describes doing that (https://www.novell.com/documentation...a/b2cdmbg.html) and I am proceeding to do so. This is proving challenging for my limited *nix skills.

So I am wondering if there are any howtos, suggestions or updates that would be easier for a "Windows admin" to slog through.

Unable to manage/config iPrint 2.0 any more

Hello,

I when through the process this morning to patch iPrint 2.0 to FP 531. After installing the patch users where no long able to print, I didn't have a lot of time to troubleshoot this morning, I revered back to the snap shot I had taken.

Will I could print, except I could not do much else.

I then realized my evaluation license had expired, so I uploaded my SLA license and rebooted the box. With no luck fixing the problem.

I did some tweaking that was on the forums and even ran fix_driver_store script, because the error I was getting seemed pretty close to the error described in the TID. Still no luck.

So I am posting here to see if anyone can point me in the correct direction.

Here is some of the information I collected in the hope it would help.

Double linux UID on my OES2015

Hi,

I have two users and they have used the same linux UID.

In iManager tom was created with ID 1090, some where a year later someone has used the same UID 1090 for a new user "machine1".

Now I see that tom his files are all created as "machine1". And actually they are created as tom.

When I do it for user which has no double UID, it displays normal:

What do I have to do now?

Installed OES15 Server in Root not subcontainer can i move?

Hi.

i've accidentally installed a new server in the root of the TREE instead of within a subcontainer, can I just go into iManager on one of the servers in the tree and just under "Directory Administration" Under Move, Select the Server Object and then select the subcontainer, and just move it into the correct container?

IOS 9.3.5 Device Policies Profiles not being received

A plea for help...I've "inherited" a ZMM 3.0.1 solution after the previous administrators quit. For the last couple of weeks enrolled IOS 9.3.5 devices have not been receiving their email/device security payload configurations when activated. The devices register on the MDM as being contactable but no payload is received device side other than the initial MDM profile. All services on the server appear to be fine and their is nothing in the IIS/Windows/ZMM event logs that suggest anything is amiss. I have around 300 previously activated devices that continue to synch with the MDM and get their email via active synch. Would anyone be able to point me as to where to look/what to try next?
