synchronizing specific groups in edir tree

I'm wondering how people are synchronizing groups in filr without cluttering up the content with un-needed groups. I can see adding groups based on specific contexts but was thinking it might be cleaner to also apply specific filters to not include groups named sms smdr group or similar. Or perhaps actually specifying which groups to sync.

If anyone is doing group syncing using filters or specifying groups, what does the syntax look like for the LDAP Group items you have setup.
