ZCM "create new user source" step 3 problem

I am trying to create a user source on a ZCM 11.1 server to a Netware 6.5.8 server. When I get to step 3 and type in the credentials of my user "zenworks" I get the message "An internal error occured. Please check the tomcat log..." I searched online and found a posting on a Novell forum that someone suggested checking the zcc.log. I see an entry there that says "ldap error code 34 invalid DN syntax". I am not sure how to proceed?
My user "zenworks" can log into the Netware server from a workstation, so I believe the credentials are correct.
