about novell client install

Hi All
my customer have some branch office in Eu & US, there are some OES File Server, he want to perform data migration to windows server (OES and Windows File Server on the same branch office), but Default NSM Engine Server on Aisa. I want to ask if I install Novell client on windows File Server...the migration-Data traffic only keep on branch office local LAN or still return to Engine Server through WAN(VPN) ?
