A couple of weeks ago we switched from ZEN Imaging to WDS. This was working fine but a week ago we discovered some strange behaviour when we restore an image this way. We install the ZENworks agent after the image is restored with a script, but when it registers, another computer disappears from the ZEN devices list. This is usually the computer installed before the computer that just registered. It also takes the Device GUID from this computer. So every time we reinstall a computer, another computer somewhere in the building loses its ZEN registration. Installing a computer with ZEN imaging works fine.
What is it that ZEN imaging does but WDS doesn't? we don't unregister the computer before imaging. I suspect it has something to do with the image safe data. Has someone seen this behaviour before and what would be the best solution to fix this?
