VMWare Independent Disk requirement for Filr

Hello,

Has anyone run Filr with its second disk not set to Independent? We don't plan on leaving snapshots in place but we'd like to implement backup solutions that use the snapshot feature off hours to temporarily to clone the data.

I recognize that while the snapshot exists performance is impacted but it was my understanding that as long as a snapshot isn't left in place the disk should perform the same as an independent disk. Is this not the case?

Is anyone running with Independent disk turned off for the Filr second disks? We are on a large deployment so that we have three VMs with independent disks.
