Desktop app auto-update URL with port 443 fails validation

I have Filr in a DMZ. I set up SSL and checked the appropriate box to map port 443 to 8443 as documented. I then opened port 443 in the external firewall. Filr works beautifully except for downloading the desktop app. It failed because 8443 is not open in the firewall. So I attempted to change the Desktop app auto-update URL. I changed "https://filr.pointbluetech.com:8443/desktopapp/" to "https://filr.pointbluetech.com/desktopapp/" and clicked OK. The UI returns an error: "The auto-update URL is not valid". Not sure if it is actually attempting to contact the URL or if it's just doing string validation. The files CAN be retrieved from either port. In any case, it's not letting me use the valid external URL.
