Setting up a motorola droid bionic phone

I have a user who uses a an Motorola droid bionic model phone. I have just recently setup a system using a self-signed certificate. When I try to connect the phone I get an error message about the certificate having issues and connect proceed. All the other mobile devices either do not care or require me to view the cert and then proceed. Has anyone else had this issue or know of way past it? We are running the latest version of Novell Data Syncronizer.
