Sync GroupWise user accounts only

Currently we have several users setup with only GroupWise accounts, but no novell login. I have not had any success at getting these GroupWise only accounts to sync on mobile devices. The only work-around that I have found so far is to create a Novell NDS account for the user in addition to the GroupWise account. Was the mobilty pack designed this way to where users must have both a GroupWise and NDS account?

Is there a way within the Novell Data Synchronizer Mobilty Pack to synchronize users emails when they only have a GroupWise account and not an actual NDS account?
