android phone cannot connect

When I setup my mobility server, I set it up to use LDAP authentication. My external entity users had to be converted to a full up user before they could authenticate their phones to get mail. This was not a pleasurable experience as they had to either loose all their emails or forward/archieve mail some place. Not always a good experience. I have one user that was orginally setup as an external entity. The user went through the pain of the change. When I add this user to Data Synchronizer, the correct user name and context are reflected in both the mobility and gw modules, but I get an authentication error of bad username or password.

I am using mobility server 1.2.4 build 996 on a SLES 11 sp 1 box.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
