Understanding nc_workstation and zDevice

I am running 11.2 using an external ms sql DB. I am running a query on the sql dB and want to see of I understand some of the tables. It looks like the zDevice table is for every device that gets registered as in getting the client installed on the workstation. The nc_workstation looks like a table of what has an inventory. Is this correct?
