Issues with DataSync since upgrading to 802HP3

Over the weekend, we did a top down rebuild and then upgraded our GW servers to 802HP3. (clustered, running in a blade center on NW6.5 SP7)
Datasync is running as a VM on ESX with 12GB ram, SLES fully patched and Dtatsync patched up to current
Starting Monday morning we started seeing issues with people not receiving mail and appointments,
tried reinitialize, no success
tried resync, no sync
tried removing user from both connectors and re adding, no success
removed user, restarted datasync, re added user , user finally got some mail but not all. 8 hrs, got current mail but not older mail

any ideas?
