Setting default paper size

Although the printer drivers and /etc/papersize are set to "letter," the printer in LibreOffice 3.3.1 (in SuSE 11.4) defaults to A4 for CUPS and HP laserjet (for both Impress and Writer). I have tried changing styles, templates, Yast, printer setup, etc. to no avail.

Searches on various SuSE, OpenOffice, and LibreOffice forums have not yielded a solution that works.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
