Hi folks. Forgive my ignorance please. Its been a few years!
I'm re-using my Novell 5.1 Netware server currently as an "F" drive on my workstations as my Windows Server has blown a chip and is being repaired.
I'm using 4.82 on my xp machines and they are all fine.
I want to get a windows 8 machine onto the server and have loaded Client 2 for windows 8 SP3
It wont find the server and I imagine that it's because it's trying to use TCP/IP and the xp machines are using IPX
My server was on 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0 and I've now allocated it a fixed address in the correct range of 172.16.1.235 255.255.000.000
I changed this in the autoexec.ncf as I don't think INETCFG has ever been used.
I've looked in startup.ncf and there are no mentions of ip address in there
load tcpip and bindings for ip all look fine in autoexec.ncf
I'm hoping that logging out all the clients and re-booting the server will work but I've found some info on document 1006397 about changing entries in SYS@ETC and sys@novonyx and sys@search etc but will this apply to me and how can I even check?
I'm not worried about gateway as if it just works on the LAN that's fine for what I need.
Please ask me to clarify anything or go and get more info but be gentle!
Cheers
Gavin
