Send Email during imaging process

HI,

I would like to know if someone as already try to send some "email" to track the status of an imaging work using a script.

What i would like to achieve is to send the result of my imaging command to the helpdesk so they can know that the job has started, and that the hardware had been recognised and that the job is finished.

I try to use some command line email client but i can't find one that is working on the imaging environnement.

More thant email, how do you monitor your imaging work ?
