I am looking to generate samples of SPXII (not the older SPX v1) and IPXF packets (ideally, TCP/UDP over IPX per RFC1791) for study. Having a devil of a time locating a particular service that generates either type of traffic.
I've setup NW 3.12 and NW 4.2 servers using qemu and two MS-DOS 7.10 workstations, also via qemu. I figured out that RCONSOLE in both 3.12 and 4.2 use standard SPX, while a lot of other traffic either goes over NCP or IPX w/ PT=0x00 or PT=0x04 (IPX_PEP?). Is there a particular NLM or service I can load on one of these two servers (the 3.12 install has the latest STREAMS/SPXS loaded) and on the MS-DOS installs to generate this traffic for capture/study? I'm able to capture it via a series of TAP interfaces in the Windows host and linking them all to a MAC bridge, and grabbing stuff via WireShark.
Unable to run any kind of Windows install in qemu. It seems qemu is incredibly unfriendly to Win95/98, and XP is just too big of an install. So I am stuck with DOS at the moment. Willing to try OS/2 if there is a particular service there that can do either SPXII or RFC1791 IPXF/UDP traffic.
I also have a NW 6.5 install under VirtualBox if someone knows how to generate SPXII/IPXF there as well.
Thanks!
